"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14

Joh 4:14  “…but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

This verse sort of jumped off the page when I read it yesterday.  Sometimes I still experience thirst.  I experience a variety of different desires that sometimes feel like needs…in a sort of “thirsty” sense.
I am almost ashamed to admit it, but sometimes I experiences intense feelings of “thirst” for really small, insignificant things.  A new pair of glasses, for example.  (I think my current pair is about 4 years old and half of the reflective coating is rubbed off!  In the grand scheme of things, not that important, though.)  To the point that it is distracting even when I am trying really hard to connect with the Lord!
I could probably make an even longer list of things that my mind wanders to and deceives me into thinking that I really need.  So, what conclusion am I to draw from this?  Jesus said that if I drink from the water that HE gives me, I will never thirst again.  I take from this that these little (but intense) feelings of “need” are like little warning lights on my spiritual-health dashboard, saying that I am directing my desire, or “thirst,” in the wrong direction.
The Spirit of Christ satisfies every thirst.  I have everything I need in Christ.  Nothing is more important.  The rest of life falls into place when I direct my thirst to Him.  This is what is true.
Lord, direct me to Your waters today!

    Dear David,

Thanks for your updates and pictures. When I viewed the sonograms I was reminded of the words of God, “It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you. Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God – you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration – what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.” Psalm 139:12-16 The Message Version. Thank you Lord for blessing David and Danielle from inside to outside.
