Once a month on Saturday afternoons I have the privilege of facilitating a “Chapel Time” for some of the junior high boys in Tomo and Meg’s English student network. Four of them prayed to receive Christ a little over a year ago and this time was created to help them grow in the Lord. Yesterday our topic was prayer. One of the foundation verses was Phil. 4:6-7 and we saw that God promises peace in the middle of stress to those who pray about their circumstances.
At the end of the time, we broke up into small groups to practice praying for one another. One of the boys in my group asked us to pray that he would have free time. Meg asked him, “Do you feel stress right now?” And he said he did. I reminded him of the passage we studied and we decided to pray for peace for him.
After we prayed he had a confused look on his face and he told Meg that the stress was gone. He had a look on his face that said, “Really? Is it really that easy?”
It was a beautiful moment. I’m praying that this experience will shape him into a lifelong man of prayer!
