"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14

We want to take this opportunity to recognize our dear friend and co-worker, Rebecca Evans.  Rebecca has been working alongside of me in international student ministry and in leading short term mission trips for over 10 years!  In fact, God used her passion for reaching the nations to influence me as a young believer and she has continued to spur me on over the years in our endeavors to build a ministry in Asia.

Rebecca has been a huge blessing to our family and the ministry here in Japan.  She traveled over with us back in August and worked hard from the very first moment to help meet some of the additional needs we face as a family, as well as to provide a cheerful outlook on every situation we faced in the first few weeks.

Recently we have been teaching Mattie a little about first and last names and when we asked her what Rebecca’s last name was, she said enthusiastically, “Cervenka!”  Needless to say, Rebecca is very close to our children as well.

She has worked very hard in the gospel and God has used her both to share the gospel directly with some of the Japanese we have met as well as to spur on Japanese believers to step out and share their faith.  On one occasion when we were having dinner with some friends, she nudged one of our Japanese believing friends and gently coerced him into sharing his testimony with a couple of the people at the table who did not know Christ.  Through her efforts, several of our evangelism “trainees” have been prompted to reach out to their friends, coworkers, and family members.

We praise God for Rebecca and wanted to share a little of her story with you.

Please lift up a prayer for her to continue to thrive spiritually, physically, and emotionally in Japan as well as for her to be able to bear the type of fruit here that she has always dreamed about.
