Joh 17:17 Jesus’ prayer to the Father: “Sanctify them (those that belong to Christ) in the truth; Your word IS truth.”
I have been so refreshed and empowered by the simple yet life-changing concept that God’s word IS truth.
Several months ago during our worship service, we were singing “In Christ Alone,” and the line, “Jesus commands my destiny,” really stood out to me. During that time in my life, for multiple reasons, I was feeling particularly fearful of what people thought of me. And as I stood there in worship to the Lord, the thought came to mind, “what JESUS says about me is what is really TRUE.” That thought initiated a revolution in the way I view myself and gave me a deep and infinitely more stable sense of security.
Do I believe that God’s Word is the truth? Yes. Wholeheartedly.
Do I believe that His word is POWERFUL? YES! He spoke the universe into existence!
So, does what He says about me in His written Word have more power than what other people think, what I feel, what circumstances may indicate, etc.?
YES.
Conclusion: I need to let the Word of God be my reality and define who I am. True sanctification comes as we realize who God really is and who we really are IN Him.
“Lord, sanctify me in the TRUTH. Your WORD is the truth.”
