"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14

This morning I woke up at 7:07am because our bunk bed was swaying as if we were in a ship at sea.  We found out about an hour later that we had been in a 5.8 level earthquake!  (Which occurred offshore of Tokyo.)  It was a little unnerving, but I have been memorizing Psalm 46 (“…I will not fear…though the earth gives way….”) in preparation for this trip and it was more directly applicable than ever before.  I’m praying that some of the last lines will also prove true on this trip.  For example, the Lord saying, “I WILL be exalted in the nations.” May He indeed be exalted in and through our team these remaining two weeks.

We took some time off yesterday to rest and to spend some extended time with the Lord.  It was refreshing to be able to reflect on what He has already done on this trip and to freshly commit our more immediate plans to Him.  We ended the day with dinner with some close friends of ours that we met in Japan.  (Pics on Facebook!) Tomorrow we will visit their university campus in Kanagawa to investigate possible open doors there.  Please pray that there would be some, and that they would be “wide open!”

Today we attended the worship service at Ekklesia Funnabashi.  This, in many ways, feels like our spiritual “home” away from home in Japan.  We love the saints there and we got some great fellowship time the rest of the afternoon.  (More pics on Facebook from today too.)  I also had the opportunity of spending a little time with a couple of junior high students that the Kobayashi’s are reaching out to.  One of them I met three years ago and he remembered all of my least favorite Japanese foods!  (It is a VERY short list, though.)  We had fun playing Uno (Although it was much faster-paced here and with some interesting additional rules that included paper-rock-scissors.), and I gave them each my testimony tract which Hiro so generously translated into Japanese.

Please pray that God gets ahold of these young mens hearts at an early age.
