a Father’s heart

Yesterday I prayed that God would show me how He feels about me.  The following verse came to mind:

Psa 103:13  As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear Him.

This morning as I was trying to have a quiet time, I heard Mattie squealing with delight in the next room.  I tried to ignore her and stay focused on the Lord, but I couldn’t.  I couldn’t stay away from her.  I had to go see her and hold her and talk with her.  Then it clicked – THAT’s how He feels about me!

1Jn 3:1 SEE (Behold!) what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

The temptation then comes to mind, “But how do I know that He really feels like THAT (in reference to my feelings for Mattie) about me?  The next verse comes to mind….

Mat 7:11  If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

How can I begin to think that I could love anyone more than God loves HIS children!
