A couple of weeks ago I listened to a really powerful teaching about walking the power of the Holy Spirit and at the end of it I spent some time asking the Lord to enable me to be more sensitive to His leading and to give me the willingness to be completely yielded to Him in every area of my life.
That night Danielle and I went to Little Ceasar’s pizza to grab dinner, I left her in the car with AC running, and as I went in, I noticed a man walk in at the same time as me. He was a rather large fellow covered with tattoos, and I felt a little intimidated by him. Also, as soon as I saw him I got the impression that I needed to speak with him.
I decided I didn’t want to and just left the store. HOWEVER, he happened to be leaving at the very same time and I was conveniently reminded of the prayer I had prayed just an hour or so before. So…I stopped him and said, something like, “This may sound weird, but I think I am supposed to talk to you. Are you a believer in Jesus?”
He instantly lit up and enthusiastically claimed that he was. So, I said, “well maybe I can pray for you. Is there something I can pray for you for?” I said that expecting him to share something profoundly personal, but instead he said, “Yes! We just lost our little puppy a couple of days ago. Please pray that we’ll find it.”
Needless to say, I was a little disappointed but decided to pray anyway. At that point he knocked on the window of a nearby car and said, “Honey, get out of the car, this man has a word from the Lord for us!” That statement made me feel a little awkward because I didn’t remember necessarily promising a word from the Lord. J Anyway, I figured I should grab my wife too, and so there we stood, the four of us, in Little Ceasar’s parking lot, joining hands and praying for a lost puppy.
I also threw in some requests that the Lord would be with the couple and affirm His love for them, and at the end of the prayer, the wife of my new friend lifted up her own prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord. In that prayer, and through conversation afterwards, we discovered the she had Lupus and he had Epilepsy. Apparently, they had been seeking the Lord for some sign that He loved them and was still with them. The great part about it was that he used Danielle and I to deliver that message.
As Danielle and I drove away, we saw them hugging one another and crying with thankfulness to the Lord. (On a side-note they also said they were looking for a church to get plugged into and I gave them my information. I haven’t heard from them yet, but I am continuing to lift up their needs to the Lord. Please join me! I believe their names were Rob and Jen.)
Danielle and I both felt a strong sensation that the Lord had used us to accomplish His purpose in those moments, and it was a glorious feeling.
