"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14

Psa 37:7-9 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, BUT those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.

So, if I am reading this verse correctly, the opposite of fretting is waiting for the Lord.  A couple of days ago I was getting ready to leave the house and I couldn’t find my wallet anywhere.  I looked in all the usual places and it was nowhere to be found.  I started “fretting” a little bit and began to wonder if I needed to call and cancel my cards, etc.  I even drove to the last place I used it and asked if I had left it there.  No luck.

The more I scrambled around looking for it, the more anxious I felt.  So, I decided to sit and be still and wait for the solution to present itself.  I prayed.  And minutes later Danielle came walking through the room and into our closet, and then came out holding my wallet.  Apparently, she had just remembered accidentally knocking it into her sock drawer while getting ready.  (She had heard something drop but wasn’t sure what it was.)

Anyway – I’m not sure all scenarios of losing wallets (or keys – which is pretty normal for me!) end like this, but I thought it was a neat little example of how just sitting and waiting can prove to be the best option – and ALWAYS instead of fretting.

Some other verses on “waiting for the Lord:”

Isa 40:30-31 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isa 30:18  Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore He exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.
